It was in the year 2012 when I made a New Year’s Resolution to run a Marathon.  Like other New Year’s Resolutions this was a preposterous goal.  Why, you ask?  I wasn’t a runner.  I hated running.  I couldn’t even run a block.  I had never completed a New Year’s Resolution before.

This was the start to something brand new, a drastic life change, a revolution.  You see I had already started to change my eating habits from the traditional Standard American Diet to one filled with fresh local produce from the farmer’s markets in the area.  Adding in exercise and kicking my couch potato self to the curb was the next step.

Breaking down my goal into smaller steps was necessary to accomplish it.  After all, I couldn’t even wrap my head around running that far when I first put my running shoes on and stepped out the door.  A Marathon is 26.2 miles people!  So I started to plan out my training and a 5k (3.1 miles) was first on the list.  Then a 10k (6.2 miles), Half-Marathon (13.1 miles), and finally in October of that year I toed the line at the Portland Marathon.


As the year went along my family, friends and co-workers were always interested in hearing about my progress.  Commenting on how “I wish I could do that…” or “I am so inspired by what you are doing that I started doing…”

This got me to thinking: If I can inspire people to change their lives, from the food on their plates, to exercising on a regular basis and even attempting big life goals like changing careers or going back to school, then why can’t I do this on a professional basis?

I started to research my career options and landed on Health Coaching.  Signed up to attend Institute for Integrative Nutrition and I was on my way to changing my own life all because of a crazy New Year’s Resolution!

Because of all the personal development and learning I did while in school, my interests have evolved and grown to include eating a heavily plant based diet all the way to a traditional diet including bone broths, fermenting and canning.  Some others include homesteading, juicing, sugar detoxes, incorporating essential oils, and kicking out modern day chemicals and additives from our homes and food.

My goal in all of this is two fold.  I want to grow and learn as much as I can for myself and my family.  But here is where YOU come in, I want to help YOU to do the same.  I feel so good about making and reaching goals, eating foods that are sustainable and nutritious for my body, and exercising in a way that is not only building my fitness, but makes me feel like a goddess in my own skin that I want to teach YOU how to do it too.  I want to build a tribe of like minded women who want these same things for themselves and their communities and do it together.  Let’s take the world by storm and take healthy back!
